Over Extrusion
Share
Achieving precise extrusion is essential to creating high-quality 3D prints, ensuring the correct amount of plastic is applied to each layer. However, most 3D printers cannot measure the exact amount of filament extruded in real-time. If your extrusion settings are not correctly adjusted, the printer may push out more plastic than needed, resulting in over-extrusion. This can lead to excess material that distorts the outer dimensions of your print, affecting the final quality.
Fortunately, solving this issue involves only a few simple adjustments. If you're familiar with fixing under-extrusion, the process for over-extrusion is quite similar—just in reverse. Instead of increasing the extrusion multiplier, you’ll want to decrease it in the case of over-extrusion. Refer to the under-extrusion article for a detailed guide if needed.
